Kia ora, I’m Rose — the heart behind Bookmark Stationery, a small New Zealand online stationery business created for people who love making everyday life a little more colourful.
This little venture began after life threw me a curveball. After 15 years with the same not‑for‑profit, I unexpectedly lost my job — two days before Christmas. It shook my world, and for a while I felt completely lost. Job hunting was overwhelming, especially being older and facing a market with fewer opportunities. My family were home until the end of January, but once they left, the silence hit me… what on earth was I going to do? Not working wasn’t an option.
So I started thinking. And I kept coming back to the same thing: my lifelong obsession with stationery. A new pen? Bliss. Opening a fresh notebook? Magic. The tiny joy of ticking off a to‑do list and rewarding yourself with a sticker? Undeniable.
From my home office in the beautiful Northern part of the North Island, supported by my wonderful husband and cheered on by my two grown sons, I decided to build something new — something joyful.
Most of the items you’ll find at Bookmark Stationery are proudly sourced from and made right here in Aotearoa. Supporting New Zealand makers and suppliers is a huge part of my dream. I do still bring in a few pieces from overseas while the business grows, but my goal is to keep expanding my local range as I network, connect, and discover more incredible Kiwi creators.
Every collection is handpicked and put together with aroha — thoughtfully curated, colour‑matched, and designed to spark joy. No two collections are ever the same. Each one is unique, created to feel like a little moment of delight arriving in your mailbox. And because I believe stationery should feel special from the very first touch, every item is wrapped beautifully and ready to be gifted — whether it’s for someone you love or a treat just for you.
Bookmark Stationery is my way of bringing pen‑and‑paper happiness back into people’s lives. I believe desks should feel good, tools should inspire you, and your favourite pen should make you want to take on the day (and maybe spark a few compliments when you pull it out of your lovely handmade pencil case).
